VANADINITE CRYSTALS on FLUORITE - 7.9 cm - SILVER KING MINE, ARIZONA 29127

VANADINITE CRYSTALS on FLUORITE - 7.9 cm

SILVER KING MINE, ARIZONA

The Silver King Mine was exploited in the early 20th century for lead minerals with a rich grade of silver (9 oz/T). It produced for a time in proximity to the Red Cloud Mine. Beginning about 40 years ago collectors began going in to the Silver King and bringing home beautiful specimens of vanadinite and other minerals. I suspect that this old collection specimen was collected before 1990. I don't know the present day status of collecting at the Silver King.

This is a good small cabinet specimen that features tiny crystals of vanadinite on one side of the specimen. The crystals formed on a matrix of fluorite which does fluoresce under UV LW.
