đź’— A Carole Ann Original Tale (inspired by her mama):
This particular cake plate once belonged to Mrs. Margaret Ann “Maggie” Bellweather, a church secretary by day and frosting queen by night. Every Saturday, Maggie would tie on her gingham apron, hum a little Patsy Cline, and bake a cake—no occasion necessary.
Her rule? Never serve a cake on a flat plate. "If the Lord intended cake to sit low, He wouldn’t have invented pedestals," she’d say with a wink.
This very plate was her favorite “Wednesday Cake Plate”—used for bundt cakes, coffee cakes, and one unforgettable coconut chiffon that made a deacon propose. (She politely declined. Twice.)
When Maggie passed, her cake plates were divided among family, friends, and one estate sale in which Carole Ann happened to be digging through a box labeled “Misc. Glass – Maybe Cake Stuff?” And oh, when she saw those bubbles, she knew: this was more than a plate. This was joy with a foot on it.
It also reminded her, sweetly, of her own mama, who never met a cake plate she didn’t love—and never believed in owning “too many.”
