This is an unusual little reel this. It is clearly stamped Duplicated mk ii but obviously has just the single Mark I check. This appears to have been over some confusion at the Hardy factory when they changed from mk I to mk ii. On page 173-174 of John Drewett’s Hardy bible, he has one with exactly the same markings. This looks to have happened around 1921 when the changeover took place so it can be dated quite accurately. There isn’t many of these about so it is quite a scarce little reel with some good history. There is some play in the spool but I haven’t seen many of these that haven’t and the alloy foot has been altered. Other than that, this is a nice collectors reel.
