2 Pin DIN connector is a Electrical Stereo connector that was standardized by Deutsches Institut für Normung (DIN), this is the name & acronym for the German national standards organization, and these were big advancement for their time and they were believed to be superior to RCA plugs but never caught on much in the USA where RCA connectors dominated, however some older model American brands did use these for connecting speakers to amplifiers and receivers.

These connectors work with Bang & Olufsen receivers they are the weird adapter that you need to connect your speaker wire to the Bang & Olufsen receiver unit these were also widely used by Vintage European and many German brands including for use in car audio by Blaupunkt and Becker. These are solder connectors that do require soldering some purists believe this is the optimum connection vs the screw.
