These radiation detectors were stockpiled for use of first responders around the Indian Point Nuclear Station in NY State. Once the reactor was shut down, these instruments became available. They were maintained annually and kept for use in an emergency. See the digital display that will tell your radiation dose, if any. These are battery operated for full independent use. This is a great way to have a professional level radiation detector for a reasonable price.
CHP Surplus and our parent company CHP Consultants have been providing radiation detection instrumentation to hobbyists, first responders, State and Federal Agencies, nuclear stations, and nuclear contractors since 2003. We have a wide variety of professional radiation detection equipment available for sale.
During the Fukushima incident, we provided radiation detectors to the US Navy Ship Mercy and its support crew that was on land. We also supplied contractors and civilians, even sushi exporters! We know what you need for whatever level of measurement you require and will try to steer you towards solutions that meet your goals. During Fukushima we saved people thousands of dollars by talking them OUT of buying detectors that would not do what they were trying to accomplish. These are great for keeping track of your radiation dose should you be involved in a nuclear incident.
We have some listings of Dose-Gard radiation dosimeters that are still in calibration.
General Atomics’ DOSE-GARD® personal radiation dosimeter is the ideal electronic dosimeter to protect anyone from the dangers of excessive radiation exposure. It accurately reads a full range of radiation exposure, it’s rugged and compact with configurable alarming and it is easier to use than other dosimeters – just press a button and the dosimeter protects you and your family from excessive radiation exposure. It’s that simple.
DOSE-GARD dosimeters cost much less than comparable personal radiation detectors and Geiger counters because they use a miniaturized proprietary radiation detector that GA builds in high quantities.
The DOSE-GARD personal dosimeter monitors ionizing x-ray and gamma radiation exposure from 0.01 rem to 999 rem. It detects and displays the cumulative radiation dose and it alarms if radiation exposure reaches your personal radiation alarm point. Each unit will come with a rubberized holder and belt clip.
These will ship without a battery. Battery required is CR2477N.
