What Is it?
The 21500-TC is a 33‑inch OEM thermocouple used on many vent‑free natural gas and propane heaters, fireplaces, and gas log sets from brands such as Blue Flame, Comfort Glow, Desa, and Empire. It is the updated smooth‑body style thermocouple designed for use with the 21500 silver mounting bracket that has a center retaining screw. This thermocouple provides the millivolt signal needed for the gas valve to stay open; a weak thermocouple will cause the pilot to go out and the appliance to shut down. The flat spot on the copper sheath is normal and part of the manufacturing process.
