1921 FORD MODEL T CANOPY EXPRESS
Ford slashed prices on its 1921 vehicles to offset slumping sales due to the post-war recession. For $345 a motorist could own a Model with standard equipment, including a hood, front fender, running boards with aprons, two headlamps, a tail lamp and tools. Options, such as the express wagon package, were extra and (in this case)
ON
increased the grand total to around $1000. Powering the Model T was a 4-cylinder 20 hp engine with a planetary 2-speed forward and 1-speed reverse transmission. The truck pictured is typical of the type used by the Railway Express Company in the 1920s and 1930s. The body was totally recreated from oak and poplar by the owner.
