Vintage Stratton London Enameled Flapjack Convertible Powder Compact w/Box EXTRAS!

Description:  Offered here is a beautiful vintage Stratton of London powder compact. I will be listing many vintage compacts over the next few weeks, so please check my listings regularly to see if there is something found on your ‘wish list.’ Plus, each auction will begin at $25.00-$30.00 – regardless of a higher actual value! I’ve relied on Laura M. Miller’s delightful book “Compacts, Carryalls & Face Powder Boxes” for researching these compacts, and may toss in some of her observations along the way.

This gorgeous compact comes in the original box and includes the compact’s light blue ,envelope-style cloth protector with “Stratton” stamped in gold on the front. The compact is an enameled flapjack powder compact with a pastoral scene of roses and a butterfly on front bordered by gold metal. The reverse is honeycomb designed gold metal with the stamp: Stratton / England. A push tab opening at front opens to a framed mirror and a reservoir for either loose or pressed powder. A small card is included with instructions how to use the combination feature (also in French). Additionally, there is a small white plastic ‘scoop’ for the powder option. The off-white puff is stamped ‘Stratton.” The box is a green-gray color with “Stratton of London” at the lower right corner. This is a very fine example from Stratton of London, and would be a conversation piece of to any collection.

Approximate Measurements: 3 inches in diameter; 1/2 inch tall. Box measures 3-1/2 inches by 3-1/2 inches by 3/4 inch.

Condition Report: Excellent to fine condition with some powder on the protective case and mirror. Box shows some wear at the corners.

The photos, scans and/or video are crucial elements of the description and are to be considered just as important as the description. I ask that you study them closely. The photos shown are of the actual item – some views have been taken with a flash camera. Review them carefully, as you may notice a flaw I missed. I cannot stress this enough: If you have any questions regarding the condition of an item, need additional photos, exacting measurements, or anything else, PLEASE message me! I will be happy to accommodate you.

Be aware that most of the items I offer are antique or vintage – they may have been pre-owned and used. As a result, they could have flaws commensurate with age and use, and are sold as-is without the stand or other device (unless noted). Unless stated in the description or condition report, these may not be immediately noticeable. If you expect a new, pristine-condition item please think carefully before you bid. I must stress this as some bidders have expected immaculate items with no signs of previous use. If you are not accustomed to antique or vintage items, please ask questions before bidding.

Terms of Auction or the Necessary Fine Print!

One Moon Mercantile is my small home-based business, and I offer the highest quality of items available, with auctions beginning at the most reasonable price possible. I take pride in accurate descriptions, quick communications, swift shipping, and honest postage costs. I treat every customer as if I am the buyer and rest assured, I will treat you honestly and with respect. All I ask is that you do the same in return. I urge you to ask any questions you may have in advance of bidding on my items. When you do bid on an item, you are agreeing to the following conditions:

·        Do not ask me to end an item early. In respect to other eBayers who may want to bid on the item, I will not end an item early.

·        Bidding on any of my items listed as antique, vintage or collectible are considered used and will not be 'brand new' (unless specified). Due to the unique condition of each item, I have a ‘no return’ policy. Please keep this in mind when you bid.

·        By placing a winning bid, you have agreed to purchase the item offered.

·        Payment is due within three days of auction end. If you need longer to pay, simply let me know. Items will be shipped within one or two days once payment is confirmed and funds are received.

·        There are very rare occasions which I may need to cancel an auction which has an error … even if the auction has ended. In the case of the latter, a refund will immediately be credited to you.

·        Shipping costs are reflective of the actual weight of the item up for bid, and include the approximate weight of the box/envelope and any packing materials needed to ensure safe delivery to you. I always reimburse you for any postage overage. Any time the postage costs more than I quote, I pay the difference. The default postage is Ground Advantage, but you will always have the option to choose Priority Mail or First Class (if appropriate). Ephemera will be shipped via Media Mail when appropriate. I will combine shipping to keep your postage costs low; let me know if you have won several items within a three-day period, or if you are planning on bidding on another of my items ending later.

·        International bidders: I will not post this item as a 'gift.' I want the eBay experience to be fair and ethical as possible for both of us.

·        Winning bidders are required to pay all appropriate customs and taxes.

·        Any manufacturer's original warranty or guarantee on an antique or vintage article which is part of the item’s history (an attached tag, wording on a box, etc.) is void on any item I sell.
