Dug out near Riga.
Dug out in rubbish pit near German trenches on Christmas Battles battlefield without soldier. Very interesting bottle, as I understand this is French wine produced in Lyon, France, the only explanation I can give of how it ended up in trenches of Eastern front is that it was captured in France and as joke was sent to some friends on Eastern front. Great item for any collector. Nicely illustrates everyday life of soldiers in trenches. That was the place of one of the craziest battles of WWI Eastern Front. Left as found. Last photo shows some of the examples of bottles found here and size comparisons. Scroll down to see better photos.
