This pen and pen holder sat on my grandfather's desk in his doctor's office. He graduated from medical school at the University of Iowa in 1910. The pen has a plunger inside that helps suck up the ink. When I held the pen up to the light, you can see that the inside of the pen is hollow to hold the ink.
