1929 $2 1/2 gold Quarter Eagle, authenticated / graded / encapsulated by NGC as Select Uncirculated, MS-61.  This is the final mintage of Indian Head - and all - Quarter Eagles, marking the "end of an era" of this original denomination in trusted and dependable gold.  We sent this graded specimen back to NGC for conservation and regrading; it remained an MS-61 as incuse coins get lots of marks in the unprotected fields, but this is a strong one for the grade, and is conserved as well by the best at this.  It also features the striking problems from that mint and those years - signs of die buckling (more on the obverse, barely visible on the reverse) with the circular liners just inward from the rims.  Shipped with signature tracking for your assurance.
