Why does the coffee extracted with this bottomless portafilter have no crema?
1.The ground coffee is too coarse. 2.The coffee beans are not fresh, please use fresh beans. 3.The tamping pressure is insufficient, please apply more pressure. 4.There is not enough ground coffee in filter, please increase the amount.
Why does my coffee everywhere when using a bottomless portafilter?
This is mainly caused by clumps and uneven distribution of ground coffee in the filter. To break up clumps and ensure even distribution, we recommend using a WDT tool and a 51mm coffee distributor before tamping. These will help reduce channeling.
How can I choose the right bottomless portafilter for my espresso machine?
1.Please confirm the size of the bottomless portafilter you need, this is 51mm. 2.Please check how many ears your original portafilter has; this has 3 ears. 3.Please check the thickness of the ears on the original portafilter, this is 4mm thick.
Is using a bottomless portafilter different from using a regular portafilter?
Yes, a regular portafilter is typically equipped with a pressurized dual-wall filter, which significantly reduces the handling requirements of the ground coffee. If you're using a bottomless portafilter for the first time, it may take some practice.
1. Please use fresh coffee beans or ground coffee.
2. Please adjust the grinder setting to a finer setting or choose a finer ground coffee, otherwise the pressure is likely to be low. It’s suggested to use 14-15g ground coffee for a double espresso.
3. Please use the WDT tool to break up clumps in ground coffee, reducing channeling and spurting during extraction.
4. Please tamp the ground coffee evenly. We recommend you use a 51MM coffee distributor to evenly distribute the ground coffee. Tamping unevenly causing water to favor one side.
