Using Manual：
The back up valve should be located approximately 30 inches from the head of the cleaner and will turn on every 3 minutes and 30 seconds to pull the cleaner out of tight corners or trouble spots. You can do this by pulling it out of the water to see if it is running, it should run for approximately 30 seconds, if it runs longer than this then it means the internal mechanism has failed and is stuck in the open position.
