Thinning and Application Recommendations

  • Thinning: When using Mr. Color, it must be thinned appropriately with Mr. Color Thinner. The thinner can also be used to clean brushes and airbrushes after use.
  • High Viscosity: Compared to water-based paints, Mr. Color has a higher viscosity. For brush painting, if the paint feels difficult to work with, add Mr. Color Thinner (recommended ratio: paint 1: thinner up to 1).
    Adding a few drops of Mr. Retarder Mild (drying retardant) can slow the drying process and reduce brush marks.
  • Airbrush Painting: Adjust the viscosity to a ratio of paint 1: thinner up to 2. For airbrushing, apply in thin layers—start with a light overall coat and then add 2–3 additional thin layers.

Adjusting Gloss Levels (Gloss, Semi-Gloss, Matte)

  • Using C30 Flat Base: Gloss levels can be adjusted with C30 Flat Base.
    For a semi-gloss finish, mix 5–10% Flat Base with the paint.
    For a matte finish, mix 10–20% Flat Base with the paint.
    By adjusting the proportion of Flat Base, you can achieve various levels of gloss.
