The 18P9047 is the IBM Full height LTO2 internal tape drive using the SCSI interface.

The Ultrium 2 Full height tape drive is the second generation in the LTO Ultrium family and was manufactured by IBM for many vendors including Dell, Tandberg and others for use in libraries, autoloaders and of course as standalone internal and external drives.

The Ultrium 2 offers 200GB native capacity or 400GB compressed capacity on a single tape at speeds of up to 35MBps; 126GB/hour native. Speed matching dynamically matches tape speed to host data transfer rate improving tape cartridge reliability and longevity by preventing shoe-shining and giving an overall performance advantage over similar drives as well as exceptional reliability.

Interface options for the half height Ultrium 2 include U160 LVD SCSI and fibre. The LTO2 is also read and write compatible with LTO1 media. This gives excellent backwards compatibility with past generations of the LTO family.
