Doc Galvez - "Simon Smith and the Amazing Dancing Bear" b/w "Three Thousand Miles" (Scepter 12189). Great spring of 1967 release by Galvez of the early Randy Newman penned song. Galvez covers Alan Price's British recording of the song with what Billboard described as a "cheerful, happy-go-lucky bouncer." "Simon Smith" marked a turning point in style for Newman and away from straight songs into story songs. The flip is an Artie Wayne penned cut that Billboard described as a "Rhythmic, bittersweet, love-ode." Take a listen to a little of each side. Record is a dj copy in strong VG+ condition.
