New parts are included in the "Unryu-class No. 2 Amagi," a unique mass-produced medium-sized aircraft carrier during wartime that was designed to simplify construction! The product is an unpainted kit that requires gluing and painting. The scale is 1/700, and it is a sea model that does not include the bottom of the ship. This product is made up of the conventional (special series) mold and newly designed additional parts. Amagi was built at the private Mitsubishi Nagasaki Shipyard as the second Unryu-class ship and completed in August 1944. Work on Unryu was started under the basic plan number G16, (urgent) plan, and 15 ships, including this ship, were planned to make up for the loss of aircraft carriers after the Battle of Midway. In order to shorten the construction period, the aircraft carrier Hiryu was redesigned, and the shape of the later ships, such as Amagi and Katsuragi, was simplified. At the time of its completion, Amagi was already lacking sufficient aircraft and was left waiting in the inland sea, moored under false pretenses with its sister ship Katsuragi at Mitsugo Island on the south side of the Kure naval port. In July 1945, the ship was hit and rolled over during an air raid on Kure, ending its life without contributing to the war effort. After the war, it was salvaged and dismantled in November 1947. Features different from the first ship, Unryu, such as a square machine gun turret for simplified construction and an enlarged rear bridge, are reproduced. Newly designed parts are available to standardize the differences in the reproduction of equipment, etc., depending on the time of product release, and some parts are divided to take painting into consideration. The No. 13 radar is a new enclosed part with a truss structure and a shaped antenna. The No. 21 Type 6 radar for the bridge and the base of the insulator for fixing the elements on the front side are more delicately carved than the previous included parts.
