(The Original Broadway production opened January 26th, 1988 at the Majestic Theatre in New York City and closed April 16th, 2023 after 13,973 performances. It is, by more than 3000 performances, the longest-running show in Broadway history.) ..... The Las Vegas run began June 12th, 2006 with the show playing ten performances a week and ended on September 2nd, 2012 after 2691 performances.
