**Paris L'Edition D'art H. Piazza. 1935. Alexandre Dumas. Illustrated by Paul-Emile Becat. 8vo, measuring; 20.3cm x 14.8cm. Bound in a pewits black half Morocco binding, the spine elegantly decorated in red and gilt floral designs and decoration, spines in gilt. With marbled endpapers, coloured title, half title, letterpress title in red and black. text in French, nicely illustrated in colour to the text.**

Written by Alexandre Dumas fils (1824–1895) when he was 23 years old, and first published in 1848, La Dame aux Camélias is a semi-autobiographical novel based on the author's brief love affair with a courtesan, Marie Duplessis. Set in mid-19th-century France, the novel tells the tragic love story between fictional characters Marguerite Gautier, a demimondaine or courtesan suffering from consumption, and Armand Duval, a young bourgeois


Condition: See photos as part of condition report: Bound in a period gilt decorated Morocco binding. Holding firmly, some rubbing to the marbled boards, a few small chips to the Morocco spine. Text block firm, some foxing to the fore-edge with occasional marginal spotting.
