This is a 2-piece gear kit for repairing Mercedes Headrest Adjuster (for either side in the car) from below mentioned types and years. It is for repairing one headrest mechanism.

The OEM part usually has only their plastic gears worn out, replacing them with these super tough plastic parts will certainly lengthen the service life of the adjuster assembly. These are made of injection molded POM (Delrin).

The OEM gears are secured with C-clips on each shaft, remove them and the worn gears. The new ones can be pressed firmly in place. Please note that both gears have tapered bores - they go easier from one side and should be fitted that way.

The small shaft from the driven side may need a pressing tool (we used a piece of bar stock) to fit the gear. After pressing, the C-clips can be mounted and it is ready to be installed back in place.

This version has straight gears. The factory version had spiral gears - I reproduced those as well with 3D printing.

See my other listing for a pair of these, if you need 2 - each car can fit 2 of these.

Please check out this fantastic video from the channel My German Cars on the replacement itself:

Please consider before buying that this is only a gear pair. When purchasing used mechanics from car breakers, they usually contain old gears, it makes good sense to at least inspect them so that you don't need to break down the headrest twice. Proper lubrication is important - gears may crack due to over torque that comes from excess friction of the adjuster assembly.

Gears may be lubricated with Teflon grease (or similar) - Silicone grease and mineral oil based lubricants, the thicker the better.
