In recent years there have been numerous house fires originating in consumer units as a result of overheated cables which have ignited.  Further, consumer units are often located in primary escape routes (hallways, porches, under stairs cupboard etc) so it is imperative that the homeowner or landlord should do what they can to protect these areas, this simple, cheap and easy to fit solution is designed to extinguish a fire before it spreads. 

The Pyroflex tube consists of a sealed thermoplastic tube filled with liquid extinguishant gas, Dupont FE25.  When fitted within the equipment to be protected, in the event of fire, the tube will soften and burst at it's hottest point, therefore releasing the gas directly into the heart of the fire. 

The tubes are filled with 'Dupont FE25' which is safe, non corrosive, clean and electrically non conductive.  This fluid has been developed by Dupont to protect critical systems against fires.  They operate at 70 degrees C and are suitable for non ventilated enclosures - ideal for mailboxes and consumer units. 

These are 8mm tubes - please do not compare these tubes with others available on the market which are often thinner, 6mm, and do not contain genuine Dupont FE25.

Please select the largest size for your consumer unit by measuring the width and purchasing the appropriate tube.  Included with each tube are two P-Clips and two plastic nuts, bolts and washers.  

These can be fitted in minutes using basic tools.  Please ask your electrician to fit the device if you are not competent to remove the consumer unit case.  We urge you to isolate all electrical supplies before tampering with the consumer unit.
