>Offered here for your consideration is an old and original and never-worn 2003 PREFONTAINE CLASSIC vintage Nike t-shirt, with original packaging/label still attached!! Please see all seven photos, as they are an important part of my description. Although nowhere does it actually say "Prefontaine Classic" on the shirt itself, I am certain this scarce t-shirt (Extra Large) was sold in conjunction with the 2003 Pre Classic track and field meet at the Eugene Nike store; I don't believe the t-shirt was made available at the track meet. As you can see, it says "Pre '03" on the t-shirt's front. This gray and forest green vintage t-shirt features an outstanding image (based on a real photo!) of Steve Prefontaine, accompanied by dramatic horizontal lines of different sizes to represent the in-flight runner. Under "Pre '03" is the famous quote attributed to Pre: "To give anything less than Your Best is to Sacrifice the Gift"...this quote is also present on the back of the t-shirt as well. This official Nike store cardboard tag is still attached at the neckline (see photos); even the original Nike "XL" (for size Extra Large) clear plastic vertical sticker has remained attached to the shirt (see photo #5 for a close-up) after all these years! Measurements are as follows: 33" in length (measured from back of neckline to bottom hem) x 24" (measured armpit-to-armpit). The shirt's material makeup is 90% cotton and 10% polyester. >Keep in mind that the garment was never used, so it was never washed and may shrink up a bit upon usage. I once had a handful of these unused t-shirts, but this is my last one...

     <>Steve Prefontaine, the former University of Oregon Ducks distance runner, was tragically killed in an auto accident here in Eugene, Oregon (1975). This 2003 Prefontaine Classic track and field meet was held at Hayward Field here in Tracktown, USA - the site of many of Pre's thrilling races.
