This is a very beautiful miniature specimen of manganoan calcite with a bright orange red fluorescent reaction under a UV SW lamp. The specimen features undamaged crystals of pink manganoan calcite, a manganese rich variety of calcite. The calcite formations are composed of hundreds of tiny crystals that formed over matrix.
In a secondary formation of spiky calcite crystals there are many tiny crystals of black hausmannite, a manganese oxide known for its sharp crystals.
A previous label from C.S. (Clive) Queit will accompany the specimen to its new owner.
