This title is notorious for being misclassified as a first edition, first printing.and for good reason. The first edition and the second edition have similar copyright pages with a full numberline 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1. Both also show the last printing date as 2007. So the copyright pages while not identical would still lead one to believe they have a first edition however once you get past this, the differences are easily distinguishable. 

The first edition has blank endpapers up through at least 9 printings. The Second edition (whose copyright page also looks like a first) has illustrated map endpapers, 4 pages of praise before the first page of story text and an added section in the rear of the book with added material like 13 questions for the author. 

The third edition has added a half-title page with a picture of a cassette. 

The 4th edition is the 10 year anniversary edition which is completely different than the first 3 editions. 

As for Dust Jackets, the True First Edition, first printing DJ has a red quote in the upper right hand corner on the front. This quote is by Chris Crutcher and is present for at least the first 9 printings of the true first edition. The rear of DJ has a Gordon Korman quote and no mention of Added Bonus Material. 

The Second edition DJ replaced the red Crutcher blurb on front with a - The New York Times Best Seller - statement. They also added a Sherman Alexie review to the middle of the DJ front. The rear of the 2nd Edition DJ has a new section titled - added bonus material. The Korman quote has been replaced by a Kirkus review. The inside of the DJ has now become a blue and white map. The Third edition DJ also lacks the red Crutcher blurb on upper corner of front and instead states International Best Seller translated into 31 languages. The 4th Edition is the 10th Anniversary Edition which is entirely different and has a silver DJ. Keep in mind, the change in DJ and book is a Second Edition, not a second printing. At least the first 9 printings of the first edition have the 1st issue DJ with the red Crutcher blurb on the upper right corner. If the DJ says New York Times Bestseller, it is a second edition despite the copyright page. Basically, if you have map endpapers, 4 pages of praise before the first page of story text 13 questions for the author in the rear, you have a second edition regardless of the full numberline on the copyright page. Hope this helps anyone trying to track down the true first edition, first printing in first issue DJ. True first edition, first printings in first issue DJ have dried up.

A VERY GOOD book in a VERY GOOD jacket. The book has light, overall signs of shelf / handling wear to the edges/tips/spine ends (see pics). There is some soil/marks to page edges and a tiny bit of staining/bleed to the top of the gutters on the end papers (see pics). Looks NO writing, previous owner names, bookplates etc...in the book itself. Equally nice, proper 1st printing dj that has light little wrinkle/rubs to folds (some light soil to rear of jacket that doesn't show in the mylar, but there for the picky collector to note). Unclipped with 16.99 price intact on the front flap of the dj. Incredibly SCARCE in the real first edition/ printing. This book has 4 editions to date with many novice sellers misidentifying their later editions as firsts. Tough book to find; this one in decent condition that presents well on the shelf!
