This is a very good single crystal specimen of azurite from the now famous finds at the Milpillas Mine. Collecting is prohibited there, but the specimens that leak out of the mine get a lot of attention from collectors.
The specimen features a dark blue azurite crystal free standing off matrix. This amazing crystal measures 1 1/4 inches. It has lustrous faces and is terminated. There is minor tip and edge damage that is difficult to see with the naked eye. The bottom is a small contact area where a bit of Milpillas white matrix can be seen. No malachite whatsoever, all azurite.
A square for mounting or display box is available on request.
