This is a beautiful painting/pastel done by California artist Frederick W Laine of San Diego. This was at an exhibit at one time according to the paper that was behind the picture in a glass frame. When I got it the glass was broken so I took it out and that’s when I found this paper. This measures approximately 12“ x 16 including the mat. The mat shows wear & tear but the picture itself is in good condition.
This is a beautiful pastel painting. The artist captured the lighting beautifully. It is a beautiful sleek sailboat gliding through the water.
The artist Frederick Lane was from San Diego and was born in 1923 and died in 1992.
He is listed in a book called “Artists in California” by Edan Hughes.
This looks to be a pastel, but some of the outlines of the boat appear to be watercolor, but I am not certain.
This is in very good condition. There are a couple of little tiny spots where it might be a little bit of loss of color, but I’m not certain it could just be the way this was done. Please see all photos and ask any questions. I’m happy to answer them
