Osgood (1747-1822), pastor of the church in Medford, MA, saw the first edition of this Thanksgiving sermon printed at Boston and then reprinted several times in 1794 and 1795, including this edition at Stockbridge. Takes to task political societies and "clubs" that are at odds with the Washington administration and even, apparently, would abolish popular opposition, leaving governmental oversight to the state legislatures.
