>Offered here is an old and original 1972-75 ALEXANDRIA ACES minor league baseball pennant!! Please see all four photos, and please read the history below as they are an important part of my description. This rare full-sized vintage baseball pennant for the Alexandria Aces measures approximately 30" x 12", and features flexible yellow felt with thick silk-screened brown and white graphics and lettering, along with a white strip of felt along the left edge. This vintage baseball pennant features a great baseball logo, with a large sweeping "A" accompanied by an outline of the State of Louisiana along with four "aces" from a deck of cards; the Alexandria Aces team was a feeder system for the major league ballclub, the San Diego Padres. 

     <>History: the Alexandria Aces were members of the Texas League (Double-A), playing in Alexandria, Louisiana at Bringhurst Field. The Aces existed from 1972-75, with the "Aces" name a throwback to the original Alexandria Aces (1934-42 and 1946-57), who played twenty-one seasons in the Louisiana-based Evangeline League. Future Baseball Hall of Fame player Duke Snider managed the Aces during their first summer of operation in 1972. Notable players who passed through Alexandria during their limited years in existence included infielder Bill Almon and pitcher Randy Jones. Almon was the #1 overall pick in the 1974 Major League amateur draft out of Brown University; Jones appeared for the Aces in both 1972 and 1973. He debuted for the Padres in June, 1973 and was a two-time National League All-Star (1975, 1976). Jones also won the N.L. Cy Young award in 1976 as well.

     <>Condition: this rare pennant is in *Fine Shape overall, showing only minor age/handling faults to include: a vertical crease in middle of pennant; an area of light discoloration on the yellow portion near the team's logo that really does not detract (should be visible in my photo); a few other creases near pennant's tip, and light fraying of the tip. I see no tack holes present! The pennant displays great, as my pics show!!
