You can find your engine code on the sticker on the timing belt cover (see pic). These motors will say CRU or CVC on the sticker.

The original VW water pump has a collar that blocks the impeller when the motor is cold for faster warm up. The pump in this listing DOES NOT have that, but otherwise is like the original in every way. I have not found any issues with using a pump without the collar.  

If you would rather have the pump with the collar I have a kit listed with a pump that comes complete with the collar and the solenoid that operates it.
