The 3/8" filling hose is not heated . It is not necessary to heat the hose unless you prefer it heated. The disadvantage of a non heated hose is you cannot leave wax in your hose without dispensing it or the wax will cool and solidify in the hose. I found that I could easily take a 5 min break without this happening. If  longer than a  5 min break is needed, simply close the ball valve and let the remainder of the wax in the hose drain out into a pitcher/container. When you are ready to resume pouring, open ball valve to allow wax back into hose.

The filling valve is a spring loaded check valve that when depressed, allows fluid/wax to flow through.
