BASF Dehypon LS54 record cleaning fluid. This 5ml bottle makes 12.5 litres. UK/EU substitute for Tergitol.

As recommended by Neil Antin and his 190 page 2022 scientific paper “Precision Aqueous Cleaning of Vinyl Records”.

Just 0.4ml per litre of distilled water makes a superb low foaming record cleaning fluid.

The addition of Isopropanol Alcohol is NOT recommended.

Selling and cleaning used, second hand vinyl records has been my fulltime job since 2001.

I have never found a record cleaning fluid better than this.

I prefer it to the Tergitol I have tried which I bought on eBay although the seller did NOT provide proof it was really Tergitol.

I have used diluted Dehypon in my vinyl cleaning ultrasonic tank, but I mostly use it on my Moth and Nitty Gritty cleaning machines.

When I apply the diluted Dehypon to the surface of the horizontal record I want the liquid to cling to the surface without any bare patches before I clean it on the Moth or Nitty Gritty.

I have found 0.4ml per litre of distilled water (0.04%) is the minimum required to avoid any bare patches on wet/vacuum RCMs (Record Cleaning Machines).

Because the record in my ultrasonic bath is vertical and at least a third of it submerged in the solution as it rotates it is likely that a lower dilution nearer the 0.15ml per litre (0.015%) recommended by Neil Antin would be adequate.

Neil Antin recommends 1ml per litre (0.1%) for manual cleaning and 0.25ml per litre (0.025%) for wet/vacuum RCMs but I find 0.04% is best on my RCMs

For RCMs Neil Antin also suggests a different dilution between using Tergitol or Dehypon.
