JEYI SK1 M.2 NVMe SSD to PCIe 4.0 x1 Adapter Card

Expand your desktop PC storage using a spare PCI Express slot.

The genuine JEYI SK1 PCIe 4.0 x1 adapter allows you to install an M.2 NVMe SSD in a desktop computer without using a built-in M.2 motherboard slot.

Ideal for upgrading older PCs, adding a second NVMe drive or making use of an available PCIe expansion slot. Supports PCIe 4.0 x1 bandwidth up to 16Gbps.

Technical Specifications

Brand: JEYI

Model: SK1

Host Interface: PCI Express 4.0 x1

SSD Interface: M.2 M-Key NVMe

Supported Sizes: 2230 / 2242 / 2260 / 2280

Maximum Link Bandwidth: 16Gbps

Backward Compatibility: PCIe 3.0 / 2.0 / 1.0

Colour: Black

SSD Included: No

Important: PCIe x1 Speed

This adapter uses a single PCIe lane (x1). It does not provide the full x4 bandwidth of a typical NVMe motherboard slot. Maximum performance depends on the PCIe generation supported by your motherboard, the SSD and system configuration.

The advertised 16Gbps refers to the PCIe 4.0 x1 link bandwidth, not a guaranteed SSD transfer speed.

SSD Compatibility

Compatible with M.2 PCIe NVMe SSDs in 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 form factors.

Not compatible with M.2 SATA SSDs. This adapter is intended for NVMe storage drives only.

Operating System and BIOS Compatibility

Supports modern operating systems including Windows 10, Windows 11 and common Linux distributions with native NVMe support.

The adapter can be used for additional storage. Booting an operating system from the NVMe SSD requires compatible motherboard BIOS/UEFI support.

Some older motherboards may detect the SSD as a storage drive but cannot boot directly from it. A BIOS update may help on supported systems but is not guaranteed to add NVMe boot capability.

Installation

  1. Switch off the PC and disconnect the power.
  2. Fit your M.2 NVMe SSD onto the adapter and secure it with the supplied screw.
  3. Install the adapter into a suitable PCIe slot.
  4. Secure the expansion bracket to the PC case.
  5. Start the computer and check SSD detection.

A brand-new SSD may need to be initialised and formatted in Windows Disk Management before use.

Warning: Install into a PCI Express slot only. Do not attempt installation into a legacy PCI slot.
