Description
Vintage circa 1920-1923 Marble's IDEAL model Hunter, still in the original light-brown tubular leather sheath with original aluminum tip insert/protector. The knife is only slightly used - it is in better-than-average condition for the type. Proudly hand-finished in Gladstone, Michigan USA. Marble's Knives was one of the best US makers of hunting knives, axes and other outdoors gear since 1898; this knife is from the Marble's early 20th century "golden era" - a great find!
The knife is about 10" / 25.5 cm overall; the blade is about 5-7/8" / 15 cm long. The blade has been very gently re-sharpened; it is razor-sharp still; the tip is intact. Marble's logo is sharply stamped on ricasso; stacked leather washers with multiple colored fiber/brass spacers and half-guard handle. Vintage pre-1923 large nut "wide" aluminum pommel is perfectly tight; all parts are solid with no play. Minor surface spotting on the blade is noted for accuracy. Original early 1900th Marble's tubular leather sheath in so-so condition; the keeper is MIA; the front panel has large initials J.W. curved into it; the leather is a bit dry but all stitching is intact.
These early 1920th "large nut" type IDEALs are VERY hard to find in better grades nowa days. With proper care this classic Ameirican Hunter it will last you another 100 years ;) Don't miss your chance to add this attractive antique Marble's Ideal to your collection!
