Kiritake Monjuro is a puppeteer of ningyo joruri (puppet theater).
Bunraku is a form of ningyo joruri bunraku (puppet theater).
A lineage of ningyo joruri established and based in Osaka.
Ningyo joruri (puppet joruri) is a traditional Japanese performing art, a puppet play performed with joruri and puppets.
Since the Taisho period (1912-1926), the Bunrakuza Theater has been the only performing organization that puts on ningyo joruri performances above a certain size, so the name "bunraku" is sometimes used synonymously with ningyo joruri.
Ningyo joruri was introduced to the rest of Japan from Tokushima and Awaji, and became part of Japanese traditional culture.
The name "Bunraku" is synonymous with "Ningyo Joruri.
