Lietuvių śvatės ir sakmės" is a collection of 9 animations and documentaries, in which Lithuanian traditions and other serious matters are discussed jokingly. In the animated films, you will see funny stories about Lithuanian customs during St. John's Day, Shrovetide and Easter, as well as the archaic Lithuanian folk tale "Marti iš jaujos" about a girl kidnapped by Laumė and the spell that will disappear when the boy marries her. The documentaries feature interviews with members of the ethnic group, fragments from folk holidays, photos from folk art exhibitions, stories about the famous Lithuanian graphic artist Viktoras Petravičius and his work, director Jūratė Leikaitė's creative pursuits and the behind-the-scenes of film production. Director Jūratė Leikaitė's work "Margučių rytas" included in this DVD was recognized as "Best Animated Film" for the first time at the "Silver Crane" awards organized for Lithuanian film and television creators.

"Fern Blossom (7 min.) cheerfully depicts Midsummer and the shortest, most mysterious summer night surrounded by spells and superstitions, when the magical fern blossom blooms.

"Užgavėnės" / Shrovetide (11 min.) tells about the old and unheard of traditions of the winter farewell celebration.

"Margučių rytas" / Easter Morning (7 min 70 s) follows many interesting Easter stories: about the creation of the world from an egg, the Easter grandmother and her spells, egg printing patterns and much more.

"Marti iš jaujas" / The Bride from the Barn (12 min 30 s) archaic Lithuanian folk tale about love. The fairies took the little girl and raised her in a stable for twenty years. The spell will disappear when the boy falls in love with the girl and marries her.
