This is a rare single page advertising handbill (flyer) promoting ticket sales for the opening of the Original Broadway production of the PHOEBE and HENRY EPHRON comedy "HOME FRONT" at the Longacre Theatre in New York City on May 5th, 1943. (The play's title would be changed to "THREE'S A FAMILY" before opening May 5th, 1943 at the Longacre Theatre where the production would play 497 performances.) .... The play starred ROBERT BURTON, RUTH WESTON and ETHEL OWEN and featured KATHARINE BARD, FRANCIS DE SALES, EDWIN PHILIPS, DORO MERANDE, GEE GEE JAMES, WILLIAM WADSWORTH, EDMUND DORSAY, DOROTHY GILCHRIST, RICHARD MIDGLEY, JOE VERDI (replaced before the opening by CARL JUDD), VIRGINIA VASS, JEAN BELLOWS and HONEY MacKENZIE (whose role was eliminated before the Broadway opening) ..... Also includes a May 16th, 1943 playbill from the opening weeks of the Original Broadway production of the PHOEBE and HENRY EPHRON comedy "THREE'S A FAMILY" at the Longacre Theatre. The single page, two-sided flyer measures 6" X 9" inches and includes wonderful graphics, production credits and the opening date on the front and the cast list and promotional text on the backside. The sixteen page playbill measures 6 3/4" X 9 1/4" inches and includes production credits, cast list, synopsis of scenes, bios of each of the leading actors and wonderful vintage advertising but with the exception of the front cover, no cast photos ..... CONDITION: With the exception of a light corner crease and minor edge wear to the playbill, this rare set is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any theatre aficionado or historian. These items will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
