made in the lower Sepik or Ramu river region of Papua New Guinea - PNG

ceremonial masks with human like faces with long beaked noses represent spiritual beings,

this mask is carved from one piece of wood, with open eyes and a head ornament,

provenance: a Dutch artist's studio, the blue and gold paint were added by the artist,

we believe it is made mid, or second half 20th Century,

please judge age and origin for yourself, by having a close look at all pictures

condition: firm and solid - on the back, at the mid top, you will find a crack
