Ola and the Janglers – “I Can Wait” b/w “Eeny Meemy Miney Moe” (London 20034). Good summer iof 1967 pop rock by this Swedish pop group formed in Stockholm in 1962. At this time the band consisted of: Ola Håkansson (vocals), Claes af Geijerstam (guitar), Johannes Olsson (organ), Åke Eldsäte (bass), and Leif Johansson (drums). The group was particularly strongly influenced by two British music groups , Manfred Mann and The Zombies. After the dissolution of the group, Håkansson continued together with Johansson in Ola, Frukt och Flingor, Ola+3 and then became Secret Service. The disc was recorded in London & the A-side is notable for being an early composition by Roulettes/Unit 4+2 guitarist Russ Ballard, before he became a top hit writer for Hot Chocolate, Rainbow, Hello, America, Santana etc. Take a listen.
