In addition to the Hellboy Universe, there is now also the Outerverse, created by Mike Mignola & his literary collaborator, Chris Golden. While this parallel reality could theoretically be merged with the Hellboy-verse, since the characters are similar & engage in the same sort of Manichean struggles against occult evil, the alternate-history aspect of the Outerverse prevents amalgamation... eg; in Mignola & Golden's 'Baltimore' series of graphic-novels, the First World War is brought to an early end by a plague of Vampirism... yay! Everyone was very pleased about THAT! There is a Golem knocking around somewhere in the Outerverse too, but we don't meet him until later & anyway, he is only interested in killing wicked Witches... whereas Lord Henry Baltimore is definitely more of an Olde-School Vampire Hunter. (Though he does, sometimes, kill Witches too...)
In the second volume of Lord Baltimore's chronicles, our tragic Hero's footstep (he has only got one foot) takes him east to Switzerland, where after evading a trap laid by his foe, the diabolical 'Haigus,' he meets a journalist down the pub... this talkative news-hound is named Simon Hodge & wishes to write a book all about vampires. Baltimore learns from Hodge that a nearby convent has become a nest of the undead... he resolves to go there & kill everyone. The journo wants to come too, so he can document events. Little do they know of the additional dangers that lurk within; an occult-obsessed Bavarian soldier who might be Adolf Hitler, the gory homunculus of Madame Blavatsky & worst of all... The Bells! THE BELLS!!!
Meanwhile; the ruthless Inquisitor, Judge Duvic, is still slowly following Lord Baltimore around Europe. He might even catch up to his quarry one day, if he didn't keep stopping to torture people...
