An interesting insight into the long history of this august newspaper. Originally begun to pursue a personal vendetta over 150 years ago, taken over in payment of debt by it's printer it became a liberal journal. Later changing political standpoint to conservative. 

We often forget in this age of electronic communication from around the globe how slowly news travelled at one time and how vitally important were newspapers in informing the public.  This is an insight into some of the stories/events from those early days.
