One of my favorite finds on my last European buying trip ~ a RARE and fabulous find!! It is a hooded cape, very dramatic! ~~*~100% hand stitched ~ This textile is an antique French cape, dating from the mid 1800's ? It's really difficult for me to get an accurate read on the date as the fabrics could easily date 18th century also , and the style too has such a large date range! It's very early for sure! ~*~ the front fabric is a small scale cotton, purple ground with white small pattern, medium weight cotton ~ the lining is SO amazing! It's dyed indigo blue, hand stitched throughout this textile ~ The hood is gathered and simply remarkable! ~ I just ADORE this piece ~*~ ~ ~ Lovely for wearing, costumes, theater, one of the best! ~*~ ~*~ ( E cape 55)
MEASUREMENTS : This lovely vintage textile measures approximately 21 inches long, the neck is 18 inches around in total
CONDITION : I've hand washed this stunning textile ~ there are the faded spots on the front ( please see photographs) otherwise amazing ~*~
