This is a rare single page advertising handbill (flyer) promoting ticket sales for the seven-week engagement of the MARVIN HAMLISCH, EDWARD KLEBAN, JAMES KIRKWOOD, NICHOLAS DANTE and MICHAEL BENNETT musical "A CHORUS LINE" in Tokyo, Japan beginning September 15th, 1999. (Originally part of the New York Shakespeare Festival season, the production opened April 15th, 1975 at the Off-Broadway Newman Theatre and quickly made plans to move to New York's Sam S. Shubert Theatre on July 25th, 1975 where it ran for 6,137 performances, becoming at the time, the longest-running show in Broadway history. "A Chorus Line" received twelve Tony Award nominations, winning nine Tony's as well as the 1976 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.) ..... Japanese audiences were first introduced to "A Chorus Line" on April 30th, 1986 at Tokyo's Shinjuku Koma Theatre in an English language production that starred DONNA McKECHNIE, who created the role of "Cassie" for which she was honored in 1976 with the Tony Award.
