The VIN split information is supplied by VW. In addition to checking the VIN, the best way to tell which hose you need is to look at your original hose to see if it has the silver insulation or not. The early hose has the silver insulation and the later hose (this one) does not. It is up to you to be sure you are ordering the correct hose.
