New Zealand rare mineral Variety:  Aotea Stone. Kyanite, fuchsite white quartz mix.

Item Size:  148mm length, 100mm width, 10mm depth at widest points. Weight 270 grams.

Type of finish on the stone: The top is epoxy resin finish and the bottom is a cork layer.

Detailed description of item: This one of a kind carving is very hard to find and the resource is also a thing of mystery. The stone itself has an incredible light blue Kyanite and a fused green Fuchsite/Kyanite which is very rare, only found in New Zealand and is a very special and sacred stone. Aotea stone has the colours of New Zealand within it. The blue of the ocean and the sky and the green and brown of the earth.

A piece this large is special as the stones are usually on the small side.

Spiritual uses of  Aotea stone: Known as Hine Aotea. It is a divine feminine stone and carries special healing powers. the women of the Waitaha used Aotea stone in their ancient shamanic rituals and it has a special place in the hearts of many Maori and New Zealanders. It is very rare with no known deposit found in situ.
