Delrin® Shifter Base Bushings – MR2 ZZW30

When our ZZW30 arrived, it came with an aftermarket short shifter already installed—a common mod, but in this case, it left gear changes feeling vague, notchy, and ultimately unsatisfying. The problem stems from the design: to achieve a shorter shift, the pivot point is raised, which means the shifter itself has to sit higher in the tunnel for proper clearance. Most short shifter kits handle this by adding solid feet to mount the shifter box securely and avoid any interference with the tunnel.

After removing that less-than-ideal setup, we noticed another issue: the original rubber bushings in the OEM shifter assembly allowed for too much unwanted movement during gear changes. While the solid mounting feet from the kit made a positive difference by reducing flex, we realized there was a better solution.

Our CNC-turned Delrin® shifter base bushings offer a straightforward upgrade that delivers immediate results. By replacing the soft rubber with precision-machined Delrin®, you’ll enjoy a more direct, confident shift feel—without the need for a short shifter kit. The kit includes a set of 8 bushings (2 per corner) and is compatible with all MR2 ZZW30 models (2000-2007) as well as the Toyota Celica (2000-2005).

Whether you’re chasing sharper shift action on spirited drives or just looking to tighten up the feel of your daily, these bushings are a subtle but significant improvement for any enthusiast.
