⚠️ CRITICAL FITMENT WARNING: This set is sized specifically for 4.040" (.040" over) cylinder bores. Always verify your block has been honed/bored to exactly 4.040" before installation. Performance engines require manual ring gap filing: Target .004" per inch of bore (Top: ~.016"–.018", 2nd: ~.018"–.020") for street use, or consult your cam/boost builder for gap specs. Improper gapping = ring butting, broken rings, or oil consumption.
🔧 SBC INSTALLATION GUIDELINES
- 🔹 Clean cylinder walls with brake cleaner & lint-free cloth after honing
- 🔹 File-fit ring end gaps using a precision ring filer & feeler gauge
- 🔹 Install top/2nd rings with "TOP" marking facing upward toward combustion chamber
- 🔹 Stagger ring gaps 120° apart; keep gaps away from piston pin thrust side & oil passages
- 🔹 Use assembly lube on rings/cylinder walls, prime oil pump, and follow SBC break-in procedure
