Silas the Conjurer:
His Travels and Perils
by
James Greenwood
Publisher: S.O. Beeton, 1866, true first edition in book form. First serialised in Boy's Own in 1865, this would have been one of the last titles published by Beeton before it was sold to Ward, Lock in 1866, when this title was republished under the new imprint. Good condition, bound in green cloth with gilt titles and decorations on the spine and top board, all edges gilt. The book has been re-spined with the original spine strip laid on. New endpapers. Foxing throughout, text block uneven, and one page misaligned with some small chips to its top edge and a repaired closed tear. Illustrated throughout within the text. A rare first edition.
Octavo, 22cm, 8.75 inches, tall, 346 pages, plus 6 page publisher's catalogue.
