As a humanitarian and father of three boys, charitable work is an integral part of Eric Waugh the artist. Eric holds the Guinness Book record for “The World’s Largest Painting on Canvas by one artist”. The painting entitled “HERO” took over 5 years to complete and was 41,400 square feet. It was unveiled at the Museum of Fine Art in Raleigh, North Carolina, on World Aids Day (December 1st, 2001). Proceeds from the sale of pieces of the painting went to The Starlight Children’s Foundation and Camp Heartland, a summer camp for children infected and affected by HIV and AIDS. The event garnered national media attention. It was featured live on NBC’s Today Show as well as on CNN, ABC, NBC, and FOX throughout the day. Eric was also featured in People Magazine as well as dozens of major papers across the USA and Canada. Over the years, Waugh’s efforts have helped raise much needed funds for many worthy causes locally and across the border.
