The mukkuri is a folk instrument, a type of mouth harp that has been passed down from generation to generation among the Ainu people of Hokkaido.
It is a simple structure of bamboo with a cut in it and a string tied around it, and is resonated in the oral cavity to enjoy the changes in tone.
It is quite difficult to produce the sound, but it is profound.
Once you get the hang of it, it produces a mysterious "buh-buh-buh" sound.
It comes with instructions on how to play it, so you can play it as your heart desires.
It is made by Kimiyo Suzuki, a master of mukuri making, who lives in Kushiro City.
