A vintage 1996 Greg Shooner sponged redware pottery crock with metal lid
The metal lid has a nice rusty patina.
I did find a couple of very small flakes on the side of this jar.
There is also a polished chip at the top band..
Not sure if this was done at the time it was made (photos 6 & 7 )
Crazing and some light scratches are also evident all over.
This gorgeous piece is inscribed and dated on the bottom
6 3/4" tall to top rim x 4 1/4" wide at base
The information below was take from Panda Country Primitives
They write about Shooner American Redware.....
Greg and Mary Shooner are recognized as the foremost redware potters in the country! Their redware is so accurate, that museums have been fooled by their aging process. Vast numbers of people wait patiently in line for hours just to get their hands on a piece of their redware!
We've christened it the "Shooner Run" because you need to be fleet of foot to reach their booth before they are sold out! As a result, all of these pieces are one-of-a-kind, and can not be re-ordered! Also, very important...
*Please note...this piece has the traditional lead glaze and is not for food use!!
This piece also has intentional aging and distressing which only adds to the "look".
Condition is of my own opinion, please view all photos to arrive at yours.
